The International Seabed Authority contributes to Kingston Mayor’s homeless response amid COVID-19

PRESS RELEASE

The International Seabed Authority (ISA) has donated $3,000 USD and furniture from its headquarters in downtown Kingston, to the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) to help address the impact on human health and well-being, in particular for the most vulnerable groups of the society, namely the homeless population living in Kingston. ISA staff have also contributed an additional $2000 to the donation through their Staff Association.

The funds and furniture will be used to assist KSAMC in the establishment of a temporary night shelter in Church Street downtown, to support homeless people during the nightly curfew.

“ISA is proud to support the Mayor of Kingston’s efforts to provide temporary shelter for the homeless population downtown,” said ISA Secretary-General Mr. Michael W. Lodge.

“I commend all the frontline health and emergency service workers who are working tirelessly in responding to the situation,” he added. “We must come together in common humanity and stand together in compassion and solidarity.”
