Assistant/Associate Professor – Oceanography

HPU is seeking a highly motivated candidate to fulfill teaching, research and program development in oceanography at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.  The Marine Science Program at HPU has 2 undergraduate majors, BS Marine Biology and BS Oceanography, and a MS Marine Science program with a thesis-based and applied track.  By Fall 2020, the College’s Marine Science program operations are to be primarily based at HPU’s Makapu`u campus in Waimanalo, which hosts HPU’s marine science degree programs and the Oceanic Insitute. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the core disciplines of Oceanography, particularly those involving multi-disciplinary aspects, such as biophysical interactions, geochemistry and/or coastal processes.  In addition to teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses, the candidate will be encouraged to develop courses in his/her area of expertise.   Engagement in scholarship activities is strongly encouraged, with priority for those which engage and enhance the academic and professional development of undergraduate and graduate students.
